My boyfriend is conspiring with a plush dog as I write this blog. It doesn't look good for me. Well, before I determine my fate with the boyfriend and toy dog, I want to note something I heard today.
My boss was talking about how in California there is a shortage of farm produce workers, so a lot of fruit and vegetables will wind up rotting due to lack of labor. I read an article about that later, and it said that because of the crack down on illegal immigration, there are not enough workers to pick the produce. The farmers are recommending that the US make a law so that "guest laborers" can come in from other countries and work for short amounts of time under fair wages and work conditions.
It made me wonder if there were more factory jobs, if manufacturers would also need to bring in "guest laborers" at low wages to do the hard work of assembling the product. It's just speculation on my end, but it would be ironic to bring in "outsourced" people to do jobs in America.
Hello! I'm a 30 year old gal with a liking for doing year long projects. I've done a year without any form of chocolate, a year without coffee shops, and 5 years without gum (and I LOVE chocolate, coffee shops, and gum)! A year wearing only American Made should be the hardest yet, though*.
